The Cardinal: Cashin Company presents 'The Stanford Challenge' on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 3-4) as the Cardinal hosts USC and UCLA at the Taube Tennis Center. Stanford is 1-0 and ranked 12th in the latest ITA poll (as of Jan. 31) after opening the dual match season with a 6-1 win over Hawaii on Jan. 26 ... The Cardinal will face No. 18 USC on Friday and No. 4 UCLA on Saturday ... The Trojans are 4-1 in 2006, its only loss coming to No. 7 Virginia, while the Bruins are 3-0
Stanford in the Rankings: The Cardinal began the 2006 season ranked No. 14 in the preseason poll, but moved up to No. 12 in the most recent ITA poll. Individually, Cardinal freshman Matt Bruch is ranked No. 4 in the nation in singles while senior K.C. Corkery is ranked No. 21. In doubles, Corkery and junior James Pade are ranked No. 5 in the country.
Against the Bruins and Trojans: The Cardinal went 2-1 vs. USC last season and 0-2 vs. UCLA ... Both losses to the Bruins, who were ranked in the top-6 in the nation in both matches, were by 4-3 scores ... Stanford owns a 53-50 all-time record vs. UCLA and a 55-47 record against the Trojans ... Between the Cardinal (17), Trojans (16) and Bruins (16), the trio has won 49 of the 62 NCAA men's tennis team championships ... Stanford owns the most NCAA men's team championships with 17.
