UCLA Falls To Fresno State In Opener, 11-9

Los Angeles - The UCLA baseball team dropped its season opener to Fresno State, 11-9, on Saturday in a continuation from Friday night after the game was suspended due to fog.

Senior outfielder Chris Jensen led the Bruins going 4-for-6 from the plate with a home run and two RBI. Freshman outfielder Tim Murphy went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, and senior infielder Brett McMillan added a solo home run for the Bruins.

After falling behind 1-9 in the top of the fourth, Murphy blasted a three-run home run to cut the lead to 4-9 in the fourth. The Bruins would rally in the bottom of the sixth inning with three more runs to cut the lead to 7-9.

Jensen's two-run home run in the eighth inning cut the Bulldogs' lead to 9-10.

Fresno State would add another run in the top of the ninth for an 11-9 cushion.

The Bruins had a chance to cut into the Bulldogs' lead in the bottom of the ninth inning with bases load and no outs, but were unable capitalize.
