The 2006 Pac-10 softball season kicks off this week, with all eight teams participating in pre-season tournament action. The Pac-10 has all eight schools ranked in at least one of the two national pre-season polls, with UCLA taking the top billing at the No. 2 spot in each poll.

2005 proved to be a banner year for the Pac-10, with all eight teams advancing to postseason play for the fourth time in Conference history. The Conference had a representative in the title game/series for the 22nd time in the 24-year history of the Women's College World Series.

For the first time in Pac-10 history, four teams tied for the 2005 Conference title- ARIZONA, CALIFORNIA, OREGON STATE, and STANFORD. It was the first Conference title for both the Beavers and the Cardinal, while it was the second for California and ninth for Arizona.
