Women's Gymnastics Finishes Third in Quad Meet

BERKELEY - The California women's gymnastics team finished third (190.850) in its quad meet against No. 11 UCLA, Sacramento State and UC Davis, Friday night in Berkeley.
UCLA won the meet with a score of 196.500. The Hornets of Sacramento State finished second (192.500), while UC Davis placed fourth (190.300).
The Bears opened the competition strong, posting their season-best score (48.300) on the vault. Junior Isabel Garcia broke her career-high of 9.675, set in last week's meet against Stanford, with tonight's score of 9.750. Senior Britani Pittullo additionally set her season-high on the vault (9.750).
In the second rotation, Cal posted a 48.250 on the bars. Freshman Joanna Bennett tied for first after she set her career-high of 9.875 in the event. Sophomore Siobhan Luce and freshman Jessica Kelley each posted a 9.825 in the event.
Freshman Lydia Williams set a team-high and her career-high (9.800) on the beam.
In addition to her marks on the vault, Garcia recorded a career-high on the floor (9.750). Sophomore Alli Szutu tallied a season-high 9.650 on the floor. Sophomore Nicki Well also secured her season-high on the floor with a 9.600.
The Bears will travel next to Washington on Friday, Feb. 17. The meet is set for a 7 p.m. (PST) start in Seattle, Wash.
