SUN DEVIL DATA: The Arizona State University men's basketball team (9-14; 3-11) plays at California on Saturday, Feb. 18 (5 p.m PT/6 p.m. MST) on Fox Sports Net with Barry Tompkins and Dan Belluomini calling the action. ASU fell at Stanford 82-69 on Thursday as Stanford made 31-of-35 (.886) free throws, including 18-of-22 (.818) in the first half and outrebounded ASU 31-23. Freshman Jeff Pendergraph had another solid game with 18 points and nine boards while Kevin Kruger added 15 points, Bryson Krueger had 14 off the bench and Antwi Atuahene added 10. ASU advanced to the postseason for the third time in the past four seasons last year as it finished 18-14 behind Pac-10 Player of the Year and consensus second-team All-American Ike Diogu. ASU is shooting 38.2 percent from the three-point stripe (125-of-327), its best mark since the 1988-89 squad set the school mark with a .430 clip.

QUALITY NOTE FROM LAST WEEK: Freshmen Jeff Pendergraph and Sylvester Seay have stepped up in the past few weeks, as last Saturday (Feb. 11) they each scored 21 points in a 98-87 loss to Oregon, the first time in school history two freshmen have scored 20 points in the same game. ASU also topped Oregon State 76-59 on Feb. 9 behind Pendergraph's 18 points and 11 rebounds, as he is averaging 18 points in the past four games.

BIG-TIME FROSH: Jeff Pendergraph, a leading candidate for Pac-10 All-Freshman honors, is in good shape after missing all of the fall conditioning and most of November due to surgery to remove a benign tumor in his left leg. Pendergraph is shooting 67-of-125 (.536) from the field in league games. Among Pac-10 freshman, he is second in the league in points per game (10.7), third in rebounds per game (5.6) and second in field goal percentage (.517). Pendergraph has 11 double-figure scoring games and is averaging 15.6 points and 7.1 boards in the past seven contests.
