No. 15 San Diego Wins Game One Of 2006 Public Storage Baseball Classic

LOS ANGELES --- Josh Butler threw eight shutout innings Friday as the No. 15 San Diego Toreros defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores, 10-0, in game of the 2006 Public Storage Baseball Classic at Dedeaux Field. Butler (3-0) allowed only four hits and struck out eight, including striking out six in a row.
San Diego (6-1) used a six-run second inning against a Vanderbilt (0-1) squad playing its first game of the 2006 season. Designated hitter Kevin Hansen started the scoring with a two-run single and finished the game with a 2-for-3 performance and three RBI. Second baseman Keoni Ruth stole three bases in the game, including the second inning when he stole third base and home plate.
Torero third baseman Ryan Lilly also had three RBI, including a two-run homer to left in the seventh inning.
After a leadoff single to Alex Feinberg, Butler retired 15 straight batters until another single in the sixth by Brad French. Butler struck out the side in the second and third innings. For the season, Butler has not allowed a run in 20 innings.
Vanderbilt starter David Price was touched up for seven runs (five earned) on five hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked five batters and struck out seven.
Game two of the Public Storage Baseball Classic will start at 6 p.m. tonight with host No. 25 USC taking on Kansas.
