Rain Halts Potential UCLA Upset against Cal

Feb. 17, 2006

LOS ANGELES - A potential upset by the 17th-ranked UCLA women's tennis team came to an abrupt end Friday, as rains in the Southern California area halted play between the Bruins and sixth-ranked Cal at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. UCLA won the doubles point and had taken the first set on three of six courts when play was suspended.

UCLA is scheduled to face top-ranked Stanford tomorrow at the LATC beginning at Noon. If that match is finished, then UCLA and Cal will resume today's match on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. If tomorrow's match also gets rained out or is suspended at any point, then UCLA will host Stanford again on Sunday. If that is the case, the Cal match will not be made up.
