Arizona's Alicia Hollowell Named Pac-10 Softball Pitcher of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Arizona senior pitcher Alicia Hollowell has been named the Pac-10 Softball Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 14-20, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
The Suisun, Calif., native threw three more complete-game shutouts this weekend, improving her record to 6-0. In 21.0 IP, Hollowell has struck out 42 batters and walked only one. In her last 39.0 IP, Hollowell has yet to give up a run and has a strikeout to walk ratio of 39:1.
Hollowell leads the Conference in ERA (0.00), batters struck out (78), and wins (6); and ranks second in opposing batting average (.085) and innings pitched (39.0).
A three-time All-American, Hollowell was named the 2004 Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year, the 2003 Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year and has been named first team All-Pac-10 three straight years. Hollowell is Arizona's all-time leader in innings pitched (908.2), strikeouts (1,426), and ranks third with 118 career victories. She needs five wins to surpass Nancy Evans for the all-time wins record.
Last week, Hollowell was named Player of the Week by USA Softball and Pitcher of the Week by the Pac-10.
Arizona (11-0, 0-0), travels to the Palm Springs Tournament this weekend, and will face No. 9/9 Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Ohio State, Maryland and No. 5/5 Texas.
This is Hollowell's 14th Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and Arizona's 96th weekly honor all-time. Hollowell now holds the record outright for the most all-time career Player/Pitcher of the week honors.
