UCLA sophomore Jordan Schwikert has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Gymnast of the Week for Feb. 13 - 19, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Schwikert, a sophomore from Las Vegas, Nev., won the vault with a career-high 9.95 and the beam with a career-high tying 9.925 on the road at No. 1 Georgia on Feb. 17. She then won the beam at home on Feb. 19 against Arizona State, Cal State Fullerton and UC Davis. Schwikert's beam victory on Feb. 19 came despite an ankle injury she suffered earlier while posting a 9.825 on vault. Due to the injury, she was placed at the end of the lineup on beam, and was not to compete unless one of her teammates before her fell, which did happen. Needing to hit her routine in order for her team not to count a fall, Schwikert posted a 9.85 to tie for meet-high honors on the event.

Schwikert's scores on Feb. 19 helped UCLA achieve a season-best total of 196.675, an impressive feat considering that the injury-battered Bruins competed just five people on three of the four events.

The Bruins next face Arizona on Feb. 24 in Tucson at 6:30 p.m.
