Thorson Throws One-hitter in No. 9 Cal's Win over SJSU

SAN JOSE -- Senior Kristina Thorson threw a one-hitter as the No. 9 California softball team picked up a 3-0 win over host San Jose State Wednesday. The Golden Bears (8-2) scored twice in the third inning and once in the fifth, with junior Alex Sutton playing a key role in both innings.

Sutton started the Bears' rally in the third, hitting a two-out single up the middle. Senior Haley Woods followed with an RBI double, scoring Sutton. Woods later scored after sophomore Katie Vickers singled and advanced to second on the throw.

In the fifth, Sutton doubled to left field, which sent freshman Carly Winger home. Winger led off the fifth with a single. Sutton and freshman Morgan Siegel both finished 2-for-3.

Thorson (5-2) struck out 11 in Cal's win, which dropped San Jose State to 3-4 on the season.

Cal hosts Sacramento State in a doubleheader Friday starting at noon in the Bearshome opener.
