Feb. 23, 2006

Stanford, Calif. - Top-ranked Stanford (9-0) will open Pac-10 competition this weekend in Washington, as the Cardinal takes on Washington State on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and No. 39 Washington on Saturday at noon.

After an exciting weekend in Los Angeles last weekend, where the Cardinal trailed No. 4 USC on Friday but came back on Sunday after rain forced a postponement for a 5-2 victory and defeated No. 15 UCLA on Saturday, 6-0, the Cardinal will officially open Pac-10 play this weekend. Stanford will play both L.A. schools again, with the second matches counting for the conference record.

The Cougars (4-3) and the Cardinal will play in Lewiston, Idaho. Washington State is led by junior Amy Toth, who owns a 14-4 record, with six dual match victories.

The Huskies are 1-3 heading into the weekend and will play ninth-ranked California on Friday before matching up against the Cardinal. Stanford is 16-0 against Washington, with a 6-1 victory over the Huskies last season.
