California Women's Gymnastics Edge Cal State Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. - The California women's gymnastics team nipped Cal State Fullerton for their second dual meet victory of the season. Freshman Jessica Kelley earned honors in the all-around competition.

The Golden Bears outscored Cal State Fullerton in three of the four events. California earned a season-high 193.000 Sunday. Cal State Fulleton tallied a 192.325 in the very competitive meet.

Cal had a slight edge in vault, bars and floor exercise to offset Fullerton's advantage on beam. Kelley won the all-around with a career-high 38.950. She additionally won the bars with a 9.800 and tied with two Cal State Fullerton gymnasts for first (9.750) on the floor. Kelley recorded her career-high (9.800) on the vault.

Junior Isabel Garcia posted a career-high 9.800 on the vault. Senior Britani Pittullo collected a season-high 9.775 also on the vault.

Freshman Lydia Williams tied for second on the bars with a 9.775. On the beam, junior Justine Cephus matched her career-high of 9.750.

The Bears will host Arizona State next Friday at Haas Pavilion. The match is slated for a 7:30 p.m. (PST) start.
