Lisa Willis Named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Walnut Creek, Calif. - UCLA senior guard Lisa Willis has been namedthe U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb.20-26, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
The Long Beach, Calif., native led UCLA to its first road sweep ofthe season, averaging 20.5 points and 11 rebounds over the Oregonschools, giving UCLA sole possession of third place in the finalregular season Conference standings. Willis had a career-high 14rebounds in the win over Oregon and tied for the team lead inscoring with 17 points. The last of her 14 rebounds was huge for theBruins. With 22 seconds remaining and UCLA up by just two points,Willis grabbed an offensive rebound off a missed free throw, allowingthe Bruins to maintain possession. On that possession, Lindsey Pluimer hit her game-winning free throws.
Against Oregon State, Willis led the team with 24 points and hit akey three-point play that she created with a steal to give UCLA an 11-point lead from which the Beavers never recovered.
Willis, the Pac-10 all-time leader in steals, also ranks in theTop-10 on UCLA's all-time scoring list with 1,578 points. A starterin 85-straight games, Willis is the first player in Bruin history topost back-to-back 100 steal seasons.
UCLA (17-10, 12-6), clinched the No. 3 seed in the Pac-10 Women'sBasketball Tournament and will play 6-seed California on Sat., Mar. 4at 11 a.m.
This is Willis's second Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and UCLA's37th weekly honor all-time.
