UCLA Golf Update

The UCLA men's golf program played in wet conditions on Monday at a pair of tournaments in the Southland.
The Gold Team was in fourth place before play was suspended at the Ashworth Invitational, hosted by USC at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village.
The Blue team was in eighth place after 18 holes in the Cal State Bakersfield Spring Invitational at Seven Oaks CC.
The Gold Team posted a first round score of 289 (+5) and was one-over par at the turn in Round 2 when play was halted. With an aggregate score of six-over par, the Bruins trailed first-place Washington by five shots, Pepperdine was second at three-over, followed by Georgia Southern at five-over par. BYU was fifth at nine-over par.
In Bakersfield, the Blue team posted a first-round score of 323 (+35). They trailed first-place Cal State Bakersfield by 23 shots. The tournament, which has been shortened to 36 holes, will end after Tuesday's second round is completed.
Sophomore Daniel Im was tied for seventh place at one-under par at the Ashworth event after posting a first round score of 70 (-1). Before play was halted, Im was even par through nine holes in the second round. Sophomores Kevin Chappell and Craig Leslie were one-over par and tied for 11th place after each posted a score of 72. Freshman Erik Flores was tied for 31st at five-over par and James Lee was tied for 37th at six-over.
For the Blue Team, sophomore Matt Marshall was tied for 10th at five-over par 77, followed by Brandon Christianson who was tied for 19th at seven-over 79. Freshman Lucas Lee was tied for 47th after an 83 (+11) and juniors Chris Heintz and Peter Campbell were tied for 56th at 84 (+12).
Final round action continues Tuesday at both tournaments.
