Bruin Golf Update

The UCLA men's golf program wrapped up two tournaments Tuesday at separate events in Southern California.
The Gold Team tied for fourth place at the Ashworth Invitational, hosted by USC at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village.
The Blue Team placed fifth at the Cal State Bakersfield Spring Invitational at Seven Oaks Country Club.
The Gold Team posted a final round team score of 287 (+3) for a three-round total of 875 (+23). Pepperdine captured first-place honors with a 54-hole score of 861 (+9), followed by USC at 870 (+18) and Stanford at 873 (+21). The Bruins tied with Oklahoma.
The Blue Team improved 25 strokes from Monday's round but still finished 20 strokes behind the winner, Cal State Bakersfield. The Blues posted a final round score of 298 (+10) for a 36-hole total of 621 (+45). CS Bakersfield carded a winning score of 601 (+25), followed by CS San Bernardino at 614 (+38), Western Washington at 617 (+41) and Sonoma State at 618 (+42).
For the Gold Team sophomore Craig Leslie continued his fine play, tying for 14th place at 217 (+4) after posting a round of 73 (+2) on Tuesday. Freshman Erik Flores tied for 16th at 218 (+5) after posting a final round score of 69 (-2). Sophomore Daniel Im posted a 73 (+2) in the final round and tied for 18th place at 219 (+6). Sophomore Kevin Chappel tied for 35th at 224 (+11) and James Lee tied for 41st at 225 (+12).
Oklahoma's Anthony Kim won medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 204 (-9) after firing a 67 (-4) in the final round.
Sophomore Matt Marshall led the Blue Team with a two-round total of 154 (+10) and tied for 16th place, followed by sophomore Brandon Christianson, who tied for 19th at 155 (+11). Junior Peter Campbell posted an even par 72 and tied for 27th at 156 (+12) and Chris Heintz tied for 31st at 157 (+13). Freshman Lucas Lee tied for 48th at 160 (+16).
Nick Bell of Cal State Monterey Bay won medalist honors at Seven Oaks with a two-round total of 147 (+3).
