CONFERENCE TEAMS CONTINUE TOURNAMENT SUCCESS
Non-conference tournament play continues for Pac-10 squads ... the Conference has seven of eight teams ranked in the USA Softball/ESPN.com Top-25, with all seven schools in the Top-15 and five in the Top-10 ... Arizona held on to the No. 1 spot despite falling to No. 3 Texas this weekend ... UCLA remained at No. 3 after sweeping through the Palm Springs Classic ... Stanford and CalIFORNIA both moved up one spot to No. 6 and No. 8, respectively ... Oregon State cracked into the Top-10 at No. 9 with its five wins over the weekend ... Arizona State and Washington round out the Pac-10 contingent in the poll, at 14th and 15th ... the Conference has garnered an astonishing .842 winning percentage (101-19) thus far, including a .676 winning percentage (25-12) over ranked teams ... six of eight league teams are batting over .300, and six of eight are holding opposing batters under .200 ... Fox Sports Net will televise the following three Conference games this season: UCLA at Washington on Fri., Apr. 14; Arizona at Stanford, Fri., Apr. 21; California at Oregon State, Fri., Apr. 28.

ARIZONA (15-1): The Wildcats lost a close 1-0 battle to Texas at the Palm Springs Classic ... pitcher Tarynne Mowatt (7-1) threw 11 strikeouts in the duel ... senior star Alicia Hollowell (8-0) gave up her first run of the year on a home run against Ohio State, but still holds a miniscule 0.14 ERA ... Hollowell also stepped into sole possession of second place on UA's all-time victories list (120) ... Wildcat pitchers have thrown 205 combined strikeouts in their 16 games this season ... they lead the league in ERA (0.41), opponent batting average (.099), batters struck out looking (41) and tie for the lead in most wins (15) ... senior outfielder Autumn Champion hit .500 (7-for-14) on the weekend, with at least one hit in every game ... the Wildcats lead the Conference with a .984 fielding percentage ... Caitlin Lowe leads the Pac-10 in hits (26) and is third in batting average (.481).
ARIZONA STATE (15-0): Heavy rain forced the cancellation of Saturday and Sunday's games at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga., but the Sun Devils were able to squeeze in two extra-innings victories over No. 20 Auburn and No. 23 North Carolina ... in the 1-0 eight-inning win over Auburn, Katie Burkhart (6-0) only allowed one hit and fanned 18 of the 25 batters she faced ... freshman phenom Kaitlin Cochran scored the only run in that game, a single in the bottom of the eighth that scored Michelle Smith ... senior Desiree Serrano (6-0) threw nine innings in the 4-3 victory over North Carolina, striking out 13 ... Cochran ranks in the Top-2 in the Pac-10 in seven different hitting categories: batting average (.523), slugging percentage (1.045), on-base percentage (.614), hits (23), RBI (26), home runs (6) and total bases (46) ... ASU leads the league in runs scored (104) and RBI (94).
CALIFORNIA (10-2): The Golden Bears battled Bay Area rivals San Jose State and Sacramento State this weekend, outscoring the two teams 16-6 ... Kristina Thorson (7-2) threw a one-hitter in a 3-0 victory at San Jose State ... she struck out 11 in the win ... Thorson then picked up two more victories in Cal's home opener against Sacramento State, throwing a shutout in Game 1 and pitching in relief in Game 2 ... she gave up only five hits in 17.2 innings pitched, while striking out 26 ... senior catcher Haley Woods wend 5-for-9 (.556) in the three games, finishing with six RBI, two doubles, three runs and one long ball ... Woods ranks second in the league with a .868 slugging percentage and is tied for fourth with 15 RBI ... Cal has two batters hitting over a .400 clip in Lindsay James (.457) and Morgan Siegel (.429) ... freshman Carly Winger has hit in nine of Cal's 12 games.
OREGON (9-7): Senior Amy Harris (6-4) threw the 13th no-hitter in Oregon history with a 3-0 win over UC Santa Barbara in the rubber game at the Palm Springs Classic ... over the weekend, she was 2-2 with 26 K's in 23 IP ... it is the first no-hitter for the Ducks since Mar. 27, 2004 ... freshman Sari-Jane Jenkins hit her second home run of the season to put the Ducks ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth, and senior Dani Baird added an RBI single that scored Lovena Chaput to seal the victory ... the Ducks logged a 13-7 victory over eighth-ranked Texas A&M, thanks to a 4-for-6 outing from Kayleen Hudson ... Hudson notched two home runs, including a grand slam against the Aggies for a total of six RBI and four runs scored ... it was her second career grand slam ... Breanne Sabol ranks third in the league with 17 RBI.
STANFORD (14-3): Missy Penna (8-2) continues to roll through her freshman debut ... she was 3-1 in the circle at the Palm Springs Classic, including victories over Texas Tech, Maryland and No. 25 LSU ... Penna struck out 24 batters on the weekend, walking only five, and also hit her second home run of the season against Maryland ... fellow freshman Maddy Coon hit .474 last weekend, scoring five runs and knocking in six RBI and two home runs for a .842 slugging percentage ... she slammed a three-run long ball to lead Stanford to an 8-5 victory over Maryland ... Anna Beardman's single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Cardinal to a 1-0 victory over LSU ... Beardman is riding a Conference-leading 16-game winning streak ... senior Jackie Rinehart led the team in hitting over the weekend with a .579 average, 11 hits, three runs and one RBI.
OREGON STATE (13-2): Sophomore Cambria Miranda led the Beavers with a .389 (7-for-18) batting average, after hitting four home runs, a triple, a double and driving in seven RBI in OSU's 5-0 run through the Palm Springs Classic ... the Beavers were just one of three teams (UCLA, Texas) to go undefeated through the difficult tourney, which included 10 teams ranked in the Top-25 ... junior pitcher Ta'Tyana McElroy (5-1) had a perfect 2-0 record and 1.14 ERA over the weekend, pitching a complete game shutout against Long Island ... she allowed just two runs while striking out eight batters in the tourney ... Natalie Johnson leads the league with a .667 batting average and the same on-base percentage ... the Beavers have five different players ranked in the league's Top-10 in eight batting categories ... OSU leads the Pac-10 with a combined .527 slugging percentage.
UCLA (13-1): The Bruins garnered three wins over ranked opponents (No. 20 LSU, No. 8 Texas A&M and No. 10 Oklahoma) while cruising through the Palm Springs Classic ... UCLA was one of only three teams (Oregon State, Texas) to go undefeated through the tourney ... Anjelica Selden (8-1) went 4-0 over the weekend, striking out 41 and allowing just one run ... Andrea Duran led the Bruins at the plate with a .400 batting average (6-for-15), five runs scored, six hits, three doubles and four RBI to go along with a home run, three walks and a sac fly ... she had a .800 slugging percentage for the week, and was perfect defensively on 16 chances ... Lisa Dodd had an impressive outing against Texas A&M, getting three of UCLA's four hits over the first five innings, including two long balls ... the Bruins have held their opponents to a .148 batting average and have a 0.66 ERA with 146 strikeouts.
WASHINGTON (12-3): Freshman Danielle Lawrie (7-1) threw Washington's third perfect game in history and first since 1998 against Utah Valley State during the Husky Fever Classic ... she struck out 14 batters in a row en route to the 8-0 shutout, one shy of the UW record set last year by Caitlin Noble (5-2) ... Lawrie had 26 strikeouts over the weekend in 13 innings and had no walks ... Dominique Lastrapes led the Huskies with a .583 average (7-for-12), seven hits, eight runs scored and six RBI ... the Huskies are hitting .324 as a team, with 125 hits and a league-leading 24 doubles ... Washington pitchers have struck out 136 on the year, good for third place in the Conference ... 35 of those K's have been struck out looking ... the Huskies have a league-leading three batters hitting over .400 in Ashley Charters (.479), Marnie Koziol (.457) and Dominique Lastrapes (.432).
