WSU Head Coach Donnie Marbut signed the 12-member class last November and felt at that time he had a tremendous class.

'We are as excited about the 2006 class as we can be,' said Marbut. 'This class will help us renew our goal of winning a Pac-10 championship and playing in Omaha. Coach (Travis) Jewett proved why he is one of the best, if not the best, recruiting coordinators around. WSU Associate Head Coach Travis Jewett, who also serves as the Cougars' recruiting coordinator, was equally excited about the incoming class. 'Our objective every year is to attract the best high school student-athletes in the state of Washington and I think we have addressed that with this class,' said Jewett. 'As a staff we feel there is enough talent in the state to reach our goal of competing nationally at a high level. This latest ranking is another indication that we are meeting our objectives.'
