Track and Field Wraps up Action at Alex Wilson Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind.- It was the Golden Bears last chance to qualify for the NCAA Indoors next weekend in Arkansas as they took the track in South Bend, Ind., at the Alex Wilson Invitational. Several Bears took advantage of this, posting their season-best marks for a chance to qualify.

In the triple jump, sophomore Cassandra Strickland placed third with her jump of 12.61m (41-04.50. The jump was a provisional qualifying mark. For the first time this season freshman Inika McPherson also entered the triple jump. McPherson was marked at 11.51m (37.09.25).

Senior Kevin Davis ran a season-best 4:03.55 in the mile. Davis' time was provisional qualifying mark. Senior Nestor Solis was just shy of the provisional qualifying mark (47.25) in the 400m with his time of 47.93. Sophomore Ed Wright finished sixth (2.06m/6-09.00) in the high jump.

Sophomore Alex McClary broke his own school record in the 800m when he finished fifth in the 800m Run Wilson with his time of 1:49.71.

Senior Antonette Carter was clocked at 7.42 in the 60m good enough for fourth place. In the 800m freshman Mackenzie Pierce finished 12th with a time of 2:09.71.

Those that have qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championship will travel next weekend to Fayetteville, Ark., for the meet on March 10-11. The championship will be held at Randal Tyson Track Center on the Arkansas campus.
