Jeff Pendergraph Earns Pac-10 All-Freshman Honors
March 6, 2006
Arizona State's Jeff Pendergraph has been named to Pac-10 All-Freshman Team, the league announced Monday.
Pendergraph has led ASU in scoring (15.6 ppg.) and rebounding (8.6 rpg.) in the past eight games as ASU has posted a 4-4 record. He has posted double digits in every game in that span to go with four double-doubles. The Etiwanda, Calif., native is averaging 11.1 points and 6.2 boards on the year and has started the past 21 games.
One of the five members of the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team, Pendergraph has continued to improve after missing all of the fall conditioning and most of November due to surgery to remove a benign tumor in his left leg. Pendergraph is fourth in the Pac-10 in field goal percentage in league games, shooting 51.5 percent (87-of-169). Among Pac-10 freshman, he is second in the league in points per game (11.1), third in rebounds per game (6.2), third in field goal percentage (.505) and first in blocks per game (0.85). Pendergraph has 15 double-figure scoring games (including past eight) and is averaging 14.2 points and 9.4 boards in the past five games.
Since the calendar turned to 2006, The Etiwanda, Calif., native is averaging 12.9 points and 6.9 rebounds in those 16 games.
Junior Kevin Kruger earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors, as he is among the Pac-10 top-10 in minutes per game (38.93/first), three-point field goals made per game (2.81/first), free throw percentage (.815/seventh), steals (1.48 pg/seventh), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.36/eighth), scoring (14.7 ppg./eighth), three-point percentage (.392/ninth) and assists (3.63 pg/tenth).
