HONOLULU, Hawaii - The No. 7/8 California softball team wrapped up play in the Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament with a 6-0 victory over Mercer late Sunday night.

Freshman Carly Winger led the Bears with a home run and finished 2-for-2, with two runs and two RBI. Senior Haley Woods rounded out her stellar weekend, going 2-for-4. Coming into the Mercer game, Woods had gone 6-for-6 with five home runs, including a grand slam.

There was not an official all-tournament team selected due to several rain cancellations over the weekend. But because of Woods' impressive offensive tear, she was named honorary tournament MVP.

Freshman Lauren Frankiewicz improved to 5-0 on the season, striking out six in the Bears' win.

Cal scored one in the second inning, two in the fourth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Woods led off the fourth with a single. Winger later hit a two-run shot, sending Rachel Wilson, who was pinch-running for Woods, home.

Freshman Morgan Siegel led off the sixth with a single. After advancing to second on a wild pitch and to third on a Haley Woods fly ball, Siegel scored when sophomore Katie Vickers reached base on a fielder's choice. Sophomore Jessica Moore, pinch-running for Vickers, later scored on a wild pitch after advancing on singles from Winger and junior Alex Sutton.

The Bears improve to 13-2 with the win, while Mercer falls to 5-9. Cal travels to take on Saint Mary's on Wednesday in a doubleheader. The first game is slated for 1 p.m. in Moraga.
