Baseball Hits The Road For Four Games In The Lone Star State

Leading Off: The Sun Devils head back to the Lone Star State for the First Annual Whataburger College Classic in Corpus Christi. ASU will face host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday, #4 Rice on Saturday and TCU on Sunday. The Devils then head to Austin for a meeting with the defending National Champion Texas Longhorns on Tuesday. Arizona State will return home next weekend to host the Oklahoma Sooners in a three-game set.
The Sun Devils vs. The Islanders: This will be the first ever meeting between the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders and the Arizona State Sun Devils.
The Sun Devils vs. The Owls: The Sun Devils lead the all-time series with Rice 7-2. The teams last met in 2004 in Houston at the Coca-Cola Rice Baseball Classic. The Sun Devils upset the top ranked Owls 3-1.
The Sun Devils vs. The Horned Frogs: Arizona State leads the series with TCU 3-0. The Horned Frogs visited Tempe in 1993, getting swept by the Devils.
The Sun Devils vs. The Longhorns: Texas owns a 22-17 advantage over Arizona State. They last met in the 2000 NCAA Regionals in Tempe, where they won two out of three from the Sun Devils to advance in the Tournament.
Rankings: ASU is ranked #13 in the Collegiate Baseball poll this week, up from #22 a week ago. They also jumped up seven spots to #14 in the NCBWA poll. In the USA Today, the Devils moved up three spots to #14. ASU returned to the Baseball America rankings, checking in at #17.
