Helvie 14th on 3m-Board at NCAA Regional

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Three California Golden Bears reached the final of the three-meter springboard at the NCAA Zone E Diving Regional, with freshman Sam Helvie taking 14th to lead Cal on Thursday at Oklahoma City College. Cal sophomore teammate Javier Rivas was 15th and sophomore teammate Mark Wes was 18th.

Helvie scored 528.30, Rivas scored 525.30 and Wes scored 466.70 in the final.

Arizona State senior Joona Puhakka won the three-meter board with 879.95 points.

Day two of the three-day event begins tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. CST. The women will take part in the three-meter final and the men in the one-meter final.
