Husky Golfers Head to Las Vegas

Seattle - The 29th-ranked Washington men's golf team travels to Las Vegas, Nev. March 10-12 for the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship, hosted by UNLV. The 54-hole, three-day event will be played at the par-72, 7,510-yard Southern Highlands Golf Club. The 15-team field includes Arizona, Arizona State, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, UNLV, Wake Forest and Washington.
Junior Alex Prugh has been the Huskies' top finisher in both of their spring events and leads the team with a 72.10 stroke-average. Senior James Lepp is a hair behind, averaging 72.11 strokes per round. Junior Erik Olson and sophomores Zach Bixler and Sterling Clark round out the Washington lineup.
Olson was the Huskies top finisher at the 2005 Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship, placing 18th at 3-over 219. Washington placed 12th as a team. The 2006 Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship begins from the first and 10th tees at 8:00 on Friday. Live scoring of the tournament is available at golfstat.com.
