Johnson Finishes Third at the NCAA Indoor Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Sophomore Alysia Johnson finished third in the 800m final on Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
Johnson finished the race with a time of 2:06.42, earning six points for the Golden Bears. On Friday the Canyon Country, Calif., native broke the school record for a second time this season, with her time of 2:05.49, which was also is her personal best. Johnson finished today's race behind, NCAA Champion Minnesota's Heather Dorniden (2:05.64) and Oregon's Rebekah Nobel (205:72) who finished in second.
Cal's other competitor at the NCAA Indoor Championship is junior Jonas Hallgrimsson in the heptathlon. Hallgrimsson finished the competition with 3649 points. He posted a 7.76 in the 60m hurdles, 15-01 in the pole vault and he did not finish the 1000m, in Saturday's action.
The Bears will open their outdoor season next Saturday, March 18 with the Bay Area Blast Off. The meet will feature local high schools and several local colleges at Edwards Stadium.
