Women's Rowing Sweeps LMU

The UCLA women's rowing team swept marina rivals LMU in the opening meet of the regular season on Saturday, March 11th in Marina del Rey. The Bruins entered three boats in the inter-squad competition including the novice eight, second varsity eight and varsity eight. With a win in the varsity eight category, the Bruins captured the Karen Hock-Hjelm Cup for the fourth consecutive year.

After slight signs of rain, the conditions cleared and all three UCLA boats went on to overpower the Lions. The Bruins also entered two boats in the varsity four category although LMU did not participate in this event.

The varsity eight consisted of Liz Pallas-Jacobs (stroke), Jessica Fritz, Vanessa Teff, Patricia Dudziec, Elizabeth Lee, Erin Haggerty, Erin Rice, Leah Wachtel, and Kirsten Potenza (cox).

Up next -- UCLA will host UC Irvine next Saturday, March 18th. Last year's meet with UCI resulted in a Bruin sweep in all events.
