California Women's Gymnastics Defeats George Washington, NC State

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The California women's gymnastics team won their first tri-meet on Sunday afternoon defeating edging North Carolina State (191.925) and host George Washington (191.025).
The Golden Bears posted the team's best score (49.100) on the bars since March 20, 2004 when they were at the Pac-10 Championships and scored a 49.150.
With the Bears continued success on the bars they occupied the first four positions in the event. Senior Britani Pittullo recorded the team's first 9.900 of the season on the bars. The mark was Pittullo's career-high in the event.
Sophomore Nicki Wells finished second with her new career-high 9.850 on the bars. Freshman Lydia Williams also recorded her career-high in the event (9.850) finishing third, while freshman Joanna Bennett rounded out the fourth spot with her mark of 9.825. In her second competition this season, freshman Bridgette Glass also posted her career-high on the bars (9.675).
Pittullo notched her best score in the all-around (38.900) competition this season on Sunday. In addition to her record 9.900 on the bars the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native scored a 9.725 on the vault, 9.575 on the beam and a 9.700 on the floor.
The Bears will return to Haas Pavilion on Friday, March 17 to host San Jose State on Senior Night. The meet is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. (PST).
