Cal Men's Golf in Second Place After First Round of Callaway Golf Invitational

RANCHO SANTA FE, CALIF. - The Cal men's golf team, led by junior Michael Wilson and freshman Romain Payet, are in second place after one round of the Callaway Golf Invitational (par 72, 6,911 yards), present by the Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. The second round was suspended due to darkness and will be concluded Tuesday, along with the final round. The Golden Bears finished the first round with a 296, trailing only San Diego State's 292.

Wilson (37, 36) and Payet (36, 37) are both tied for eighth after shooting one-over 73s. Freshmen George Gandranata (36, 39) and Larry Wong (38, 37) are tied for 18th with three-over 75s, and sophomore Michael Jensen is tied for 52nd with a 79 (38, 41, +7).
