Arizona's Kristie Fox Named Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA junior Kristie Fox has been named the Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week for Mar. 7-13, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
The San Diego, Calif., native propelled the Wildcats to a three-game sweep of No. 18/18 Baylor last weekend. She led Arizona in most offensive categories, including batting average (.750), on-base percentage (.833), slugging percentage (1.625) and RBI (7).
Fox opened the series on Friday hitting just a triple short of the cycle, as she had an RBI single, a bases-loaded double and a two-run home run in UA's 12-4 victory. In the second game, she saw just two strikes in her four plate appearances, yet still managed to hit her fourth home run of the year. She walked in her other three at-bats, two of them intentional.
In game three, Fox went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.
Fox was a 2005 NFCA first team All-American, and led the nation with 64 RBI. She was named the USA Softball National Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 1-7, 2005.
Arizona (23-1), travels to the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif., and will take on UNLV, No. 18 Texas A&M, Cal State Northridge, and Cal State Fullerton.
This is Fox's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and Arizona's 97th weekly honor all-time.
