California Women's Gymnastics Shines in Final Home Meet

BERKELEY - The California women's gymnastics (7-11, 0-6 Pac-10) team closed out their regular season with a win over San Jose State. The Bears claimed a 194.275-193.350 victory over the Spartans on Friday night in Berkeley.

On senior night, Britani Pittullo went out with a bang. The senior posted a career-high 39.250 in the all around competition. Pittullo recorded a 9.800 on the vault, 9.775 on the bars, 9.825 on the beam and a 9.850 on the floor.

Sophomore Siobhan Luce also recorded her career-high 38.725 in the all around. Luce tallied a 9.575 on the vault, 9.775 on the bars, 9.675 on the beam and a 9.700 on the floor.

Over the past eight meets Cal struggled on the beam. They finally broke from their rut on Friday positing their season-high 48.400. The Bears were led by Pittullo who posted her season-high 9.825. Freshman Tiffany Tam also recorded her career-high of 9.750 in the event. Luce tallied her season-high of 9.675.

Cal continued its success on the bars, led by sophomore Nicki Wells who matched her career-high 9.850 finishing first in the event. Freshman Bridgette Glass recorded her career-high of 9.800 in only her third meet back after recovering from a leg injury. Freshman Lydia Williams also tallied a 9.800 on the bars.

The Bears recorded their team's season-high of 48.600 on the floor. Sophomore Allison Szutu matched her career-high of 9.700. Sophomore Elyse Wong recorded her season-high (9.200) and , while junior Isabel Garcia also tallied her season-high (9.775) in the event.

The Bears will head to the Pac-10 Championships next weekend in Corvallis, Ore. The meet is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. (PST) at Gill Coliseum.
