LOS ANGELES --- Freshman Ryan Cook (Clovis/Clovis HS) threw five innings and allowed one run to get the win Sunday as the USC Trojans defeated the No. 13 Oregon State Beavers, 4-1, earning the Pac-10 Conference series victory.

Cook went to 2-2 this year after allowing five hits, walked four and struck out three.

Paul Koss (Orange/Orange Lutheran HS) threw two perfect innings in relief to pick up his third save of the season, moving into fourth place on USC's all-time list with his 17th career save.

The Trojans improve to 14-11 on the season and 2-1 in conference play while Oregon State falls to 12-7 overall, 1-2 in the Pac-10.

Lucas Duda put the Trojans on the scoreboard with an RBI single in the second. USC loaded the bases in the third off OSU starter Jonah Nickerson (2-3) before Daniel Perales hit a two-run single to right.

Mitch Canham scored the Beavers' only run with a solo home run to center off Cook in the fourth, his second home run in as many days. OSU, however, stranded 12 runners on the afternoon.

Trojan catcher Johnny Bowden went 3-for-3 at the plate.
