Salute To Rod Dedeaux Memorial Service Set For April 22

LOS ANGELES -- 'Salute To Rod,' a memorial service celebrating the life of legendary USC baseball coach Rod Dedeaux, will be held at 12:20 p.m. on Saturday (April 22) at Dedeaux Field, 40 minutes prior to the Trojans' game against Washington.

Dedeaux, who passed away on Jan. 5 at the age of 91, led the Trojans to 11 national championships during his remarkable 45-year tenure at USC (1942-86).

Famed broadcaster Tom Kelly will emcee the ceremony with former Los Angeles Dodgers' manager Tommy Lasorda and others also speaking. Dozens of Dedeaux's former players are expected to be in attendance.

Tickets for the game are $7 for adults and $5 for children, students and senior citizens and includes a free hot dog, soda and game program.

Former USC baseball players are invited to a special lunch at Dedeaux Field at 11:30 a.m. prior to the game. Players are asked to contact Jennifer Noriega for event reservations at (213) 740-4164.
