Britani Pittullo Qualifies for NCAA West Regional

BERKELEY - California women's gymnast senior Britani Pittullo will travel to the NCAA West Regional as an individual all around competitor on Saturday, April 8 in Palo Alto, Calif.
Six teams and five all around competitors - who are not on a qualifying team - and one individual event specialist per event, who has a minimum Regional Qualifying Score of 9.400, were named to each of the six regions.
Pittullo posted a career-high 39.250 in the all-around competition against San Jose State on March 17. Previously, Pittullo recorded a career-best 39.075 in 2003 against Washington and Sacramento State. Against the Spartans, Pittullo posted a 9.800 on the vault, 9.775 on the bars, 9.825 on the beam and 9.850 on the floor.
A week before the San Jose State meet at George Washington Univ., Pittullo recorded the first 9.900 (bars) of the season in any event for Cal. Pittullo ranks No. 21 in the West region for the all-around competition and is No. 28 in the West region on the bars.
Freshman Lydia Williams was named first alternate for the bars. Williams notched her career-high 9.850 against George Washington and North Carolina State, and matched the score again at the Pac-10 Championships in the event.
Three Bears are second alternates as individual event specialist for the West Regional. Sophomore Soibhan Luce is a second alternate for the all-around competition, junior Isabel Garcia is a second alternate for the vault and freshman Joanna Bennett is a second alternate for the bars.
