Jasmer Finishes 15th In 100 Free At Spring Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash.-- Washington freshman Kim Jasmer posted the program's third-fastest time ever in the 100 meter freestyle at the 2006 Spring Championships with a time of 57.52 in the preliminary heat. Her converted time (25-yards from 50-meters) of 50.20 is nearly a second faster then her lifetime best.
Jasmer posted a time of 58.13 in the finals to place 15th overall.
Freshman Lindsay Sharp also performed well in the event, posting the school's sixth fastest time ever with a converted mark of 51.36 (59.24 unconverted).
Three UW men swam in the 200 butterfly, including Bret Lundgaard, Jon Banker and Mason Amick. Lundgaard placed 27th with a time of 2:07.64 (1:52.97), followed by Banker in 34th with a time of 2:09.28 (1:54.43) and Amick in 45th with a time of 2:18.51 (2:02.60).
Jasmer will swim Washington's only event Thursday when she competes in the 200 meter freestyle.
The Spring Championships are being held at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatics Center. Preliminaries begin at 9 a.m. and finals begin at 5:30 p.m.
