Krista Rappahahn Named First-Team Pac-10 All-Academic

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Three Cardinal women's basketball players have been recognized by the Pacific-10 Conference for their academic achievements, earning All-Academic accolades, as announced today by Commissioner Tom Hansen. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
Senior Krista Rappahahn was named to the First Team. A Human Biology major, Rappahahn broke the school record with 91 three-pointers this season, as Stanford advanced to the Elite Eight for the third consecutive year. She shot 43.8% from the beyond the arc, the 12th-best percentage in the nation this season.
Juniors Kristen Newlin and Brooke Smith both earned Honorable Mention accolades. Newlin finished the season with 38 blocks, bringing her career total to 119, which ranks fifth in school history. Smith finished the season with 584 points (the tenth-best single-season total) and 1,049 career points (No. 24 in school history). Her 59.1% shooting percentage in her career is a new school record.
