March 29, 2006
LOS ANGELES --- Donald Brown's RBI sacrifice fly in the fourth provided the go-ahead run Wednesday as the No. 19 Pepperdine Waves defeated the USC Trojans, 2-1, in a nonconference game at Dedeaux Field.
USC (15-12) recorded 12 hits on the evening, but stranded 11 runners on base.
Barry Enright (6-1) threw three innings and allowed a run on five hits for Pepperdine (19-11). Brian Ozols provided the Waves with 4 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to hold the lead while Jason Dominguez threw in the ninth inning to earn his first save.
Justin Tellam doubled to lead off the Waves' third and scored on David Uribes' single to right. Chad Tracy walked in the fourth, moved to second on Nick Kliebert's singled and advanced to third on Danny Worth's sacrifice before Brown's fly ball to center scored him.
Worth went 3-for-3 for the Waves while Hankerd had a 3-for-4 night for the Trojans.
USC's Josh Fogel got a single in pinch-hitting duty, pushing his season-high hitting streak to eight games.
This weekend, USC resumes Pac-10 Conference play at Stanford, starting on Friday (March 31) at 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday's games will begin at 1 p.m. All three games will be broadcast live on usctrojans.com.
