Artensia Young Finishes in Second at the Cal Multi Events

BERKELEY - Redshirt freshman Artensia Young finished in second in the heptathlon after the final day of competition at the California Multi Events in Berkeley, Calif., on Wednesday.
Young tallied a total 4915 points in the final day of the meet. The native of Los Angeles, Calif., posted an 18-03.75 (5.57m) in the long jump, threw an 87-10 (26.76m) in javelin and was clocked 2:29.56 in the 800m. In the first day she tallied a 14.04m in the 100m hurdles, jumped a 5-3 (1.60m) in the high jump, collected a 31-3.25 (9.53m) in the shot put and was clocked at 25.14 in the 200m.
Redshirt freshman Tifani Grimes had collected a total 4824 points at the end of the meet. On Thursday, she posted a 17-08.25 (5.39m) in the long jump, 100-10 (30.76m) in the javelin, 2:30.86 in the 800m. On Wednesday Grimes tallied a 14.53 in the 100m hurdles, 5-5.25 (1.66m) in the high jump, 33-5.25 (10.19m) in the shot put and 29.78 in the 200m.
Freshman Steven Conrad posted a total of 5211 points after the final day of competition. The Grass Valley, Calif., native posted a 105-10 (32.81m) in the discus, pole vaulted 13-01.50 (4.00m), threw the javelin 167-70 (51.10m). On Wednesday, Conrad scored an 11.63 time in the 100m, jumped 21-20.75 (6.47m) in the long jump, tallied a 36-4 (11.06m) in the shot put, 6-00.50 (1.84m) in the high jump and was clocked at 49.38 in the 400m.
The multi-eventers will next compete in the Mt. Sac Relays on April 15. Part of the track will be competed at the Stanford Invitational Friday-Saturday.
