Bruins Halve Match with Jaguars

March 30, 2006

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Fifth-ranked UCLA halved a dual match with Augusta State Thursday afternoon at Forest Hills Golf Club.

The Bruins-Jags' match was scheduled when both teams gained a competition date after inclement weather washed out one day of the UCF/Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in October.

UCLA freshman James Lee edged ASU sophomore Roger Furrer, 1-up, and Bruin freshman Erik Flores knocked off Jaguar sophomore Jamie Miller, 2-and-1.

Augusta State junior Wallace Booth won his match against UCLA's Craig Leslie, 2 and 1, and ASU sophomore Mike Keast defeated UCLA's Daniel Im, 4-and-2. Bruin sophomore Kevin Chappell halved his match with Jaguar sophomore Keith Guest.

Both teams return to action this weekend at the Administaff Augusta State Invitational presented by McCalla Raymer, LLC, Saturday and Sunday at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans, Ga. The Bruins are the highest-ranked team in a quality field that will feature nine of the nation's top 31 teams.
