Bruins Are Tied for Fifth after Day One in Augusta

The fifth-ranked UCLA men's golf team was tied for fifth place after two rounds at the Administaf ASU Invitational, hosted by Augusta State at the Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans, GA.
The Bruins posted rounds of 292 (+4) and 286 (-2) for a 36-hole total of 578 (+2) and were tied with Ole Miss for fifth place. Coastal Carolina blistered the course in both rounds, posting an 11-under score of 565 and leads second place Minnesota by six strokes. Clemson was third at 573 (-3), followed by Division II South Carolina-Aiken at 575 (-1).
Freshman Erik Flores led the Bruins with scores of 72-69--141 (-3) and was tied for fourth two strokes off the lead. Sophomore Daniel Im was tied for 10th at one-under 143 after posting rounds of 72-71. Sophomore Kevin Chappell carded rounds of 71-73--144 (E) and was tied for 17th. Sophomore Craig Leslie was tied for 54th at 150 (+6) and freshman James Lee was tied for 65th at 152 (+8).
Scott Brown of South Carolina-Aiken and Dustin Johnson of Coastal Carolina were the leaders in the clubhouse at five-under par 139 (-5).
