USC Moves To 4th At Ping

Sophomore Dewi-Claire Schreefel is tied for fifth and junior Catalina Marin is tied for 12th to lead the No. 4 Women of Troy after two days of the Ping/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., on Saturday (April 1).
USC moved from seventh to fourth with a second-day 298 for a two-day total of 593 (+7). UCLA is in first (577).
Schreefel, a 2005 All-American second teamer having her best tournament since the fall schedule, followed Friday's 71 with a par-72 on Saturday to give her 143 (-1). She is three shots back of individual leader Ashley Knoll of Texas A&M (140).
Marin moved into a tie for 12th after her 73 (+1) to give her a 147 (+3). Senior Irene Cho also moved up the standings to a tie for 19th after her 74 (+2). She's at 149 (+5).
Freshman Shelcie Takenouchi, playing as an individual, shaved 11 shots off of her opening round total, posting a 77 to tie for 87th (165).
The tournament concludes Sunday (April 2).
