Nikki Blue Records Seven Assists At WBCA All-Star Challenge

UCLA senior point guard Nikki Blue had a game-high seven assists and scored six points in the WBCA All-Star Challenge in Boston, Mass. Saturday evening. Blue played for Team Chowder, which was edged out by Team Bisque, 90-87.

Blue played 25 minutes in the contest and was 2-3 from the three-point line and added three rebounds and two steals to go along with her seven assists. All six of her points came in the last five minutes. Her first three trimmed Team Bisque's lead from five to two with 4:55 to play, and her second three cut a six-point deficit in half with 2:13 left in the game. Blue's steal with 55 seconds to play led to a Shanna Zolman layup that brought Team Chowder to within two, but they could not complete the comeback.

Baylor's Sophia Young and Temple's Candice Dupree from Team Bisque led all players with 24 points. Tennessee's Shanna Zolman and UConn's Barbara Turner led Team Chowder with 19 points.

Blue also participated in Thursday's ESPN Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championship in Indianapolis, Ind. Michigan State's Lindsay Bowen won the women's 3-point event and then defeated men's winner Steve Novak of Marquette.
