No. 10 Bruins Fall to Top-Ranked Stanford, 7-0

Stanford, Calif. - The No. 10th-ranked UCLA women's tennis team had its eight-match winning streak snapped up in the Bay Area Friday, dropping a 7-0 decision to No. 1 Stanford at the Taube Tennis Center. With the loss, the Bruins fall to 12-3 overall and 4-1 in the Pac-10.
The Cardinal started the day with a sweep in doubles to secure a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. In the featured doubles match of the day, top-ranked Alice Barnes and Anne Yelsey of Stanford defeated 23rd-ranked Laura Gordon and Riza Zalameda, 9-8 at the No. 1 position.
In singles, the Cardinal won all six singles matches to post their 13th shutout of the season. Zalameda was the only player to extend her match, as she fell to Barnes, 6-4, 4-6, (10-5). All other Bruin players fell in straight sets.
The Cardinal has now won 75-consecutive matches, increasing its home winning streak to 93 in a row.
The Bruins continue their Bay Area road trip tomorrow, taking on No. 13 Cal at Noon.
