Men's Tennis Fall at #24 Cal, 5-1

BERKELEY, Calif. - The No. 54 ASU Men's Tennis team (8-12, 2-3 Pac-10) fell in a 5-1 decision Friday afternoon in Berkeley to the No.24 Cal Bears (13-5, 6-3) at the Hellman Tennis Center.
In singles action, the Sun Devils were overpowered by the Bears as five of six Devils fell in straight sets with the 11th-ranked Conor Niland topping ASU's Jonathan Kinsella in the one-spot, 6-3, 6-0 followed with the 98th-ranked Tyler Browne defeating Christopher Biro 6-2, 6-2 in the two-spot.
As their fellow Sun Devils, Nick Hegarty, Wes Miller and Ryan Waits all fell in the 3, 4 and 6 spots, the sole highlight and point for the Devils on the day came from T.J. Bellama in the five-spot where he defeated Cal's Ken Nakahara, 7-5, 6-4(11-9) to pick up his eighth dual win of the season.
Doubles were not played.
Up next for the Devils is the 15th-ranked Stanford Cardinal (12-3, 3-1), whom the Sun Devils defeated earlier this season in a 4-3 match-up in Tempe.
The match is set to be played at the Taube Tennis Center in Palo Alto with a start time of 1:00 p.m.
