Cougars Earn Second Place Finish at Opening Day Regatta

SEATTLE - Washington State's novice eight grabbed an extra opportunity for competition before the Pacific-10 Conference Champions, competing in the Windermere Cup/Opening Day Regatta in Seattle, Saturday.

The novice crew earned a second place finish in the regatta with a time of 7:16.56, seven seconds off the pace of race-winner Washington. The Cougars finished ahead of UW's 'B' boat, and in front of Western Washington's novice eight. It's the second time this spring the Husky novice eight has bested the Cougars.

Next up, the Cougar novices join the rest of the team stroking into post-season action at Rancho Cordova, Calif. for the Pacific-10 Conference Championships, Sunday, May 14.
