Auburn, Wash. -
Washington women's golfer Paige Mackenzie shot 3-under 69 in the second round at the 2006 NCAA Women's Golf West Regional, stretching her lead to seven strokes at 7-under 137. The 2006 Pac-10 Champion shot 4-under 68 in round one and is the only golfer under par through 36 holes. Mackenzie birdied three holes on the afternoon and went without a single bogey for the second straight day. She moved into the red in round two with birdies on holes three, seven and 17, none of which she birdied in round one. The senior from Yakima, Wash., is 12-under through five rounds of postseason play (three rounds at the Pac-10 Championships and two at the NCAA West Regional), with all five rounds under-par and the last three in the 60s.
'Paige was just in her zone again today,' said Washington head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. 'She has hardly made any mistakes over the last two days.'
