WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - In a vote of the league's eight head coaches, seven Sun Devils were named to the Pac-10 All-Conference Team, and two were selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine District VIII Academic All-American Team. Among the awards given, Kaitlin Cochran was named Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year, as well as being selected to the Pac-10 All-Conference First Team.

Cochran, a freshman from Yorba Linda, Calif., dominated the Conference offensively this season and led the Sun Devils to their second consecutive postseason appearance. She currently leads the league in slugging percentage (.796), on-base percentage (.545), hits (73), RBI (56), home runs (15) and total bases (133). She ranks in the top-25 nationally in batting average (10th-.437), RBIs per game (25th-0.93) and slugging percentage (14th-.796). A Pac-10 Player of the Week award recipient this year, Cochran is ArizonaState's first Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year award winner.

ASU sophomores Katie Burkhart and Mindy Cowles were named to the Pac-10 All-Conference Second Team with Burkhart grabbing 25 wins so far on the season, holding opposing batters to only a .157 average and setting a new ASU single-season record for strikeouts with 340 thus far on the season, besting the old record of 316 held by former two-time All-American, Kirsten Voak in 2000.

Cowles was a force both defensively and at the plate for the Sun Devils, with a .259 average on the season and a Pac-10 leading 15 home runs, three of which came in one game against UTEP, tying for second in NCAA records for number of home runs in a game (3) and RBIs in a game (10).
