Williams Seventh at USA Junior Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Robert Williams, a Washington State freshman, finished seventh in the 110m hurdles at the 2006 Finishline USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday at the Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) in downtown Indianapolis.
Williams, from Riverside, Calif., ran a final time of 13.93 seconds after running a lifetime-best time of 13.87 seconds in the qualifying race, third-fastest of the prelims, earlier in the day. His 13.87 time is ninth-fastest in WSU school history. Prior to today's racing, William's top time was 14.28, 17th seed in the race. Cordera Jenkins of the Texas Cyclones Track Club won the final with a time of 13.44 and was one of four athletes to break the meet record of 13.60 seconds.
In the first day of the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, being held concurrently with the Junior Championships, Cougar John Cassleman (junior, Pullman) did not qualify for the men's 400m hurdles final after running a time of 51.62 seconds in the first round, 20th overall. Former WSU All-American Eric Dudley did qualify in the intermediate hurdles after running a time of 50.67, 15th overall as 16 racers advance to the Friday evening final.
