Henderson Places 3rd in 400m Final at USATF Championships

Monique Henderson finished third in the 400m final, while Suzy Powell and Amy Acuff finished second in their respective events to highlight current and former Bruins competing at the USATF Senior/Junior National Championships in Indianapolis, IN on Saturday.

Henderson finished third in the quarter-mile in 50.71, while Sanya Richards set a new meet record of 49.27 to win. Powell placed second in the discus with a toss of 192-6. Acuff placed second in the high jump with a mark of 6-3.50, while Chaunte Howard won the event with a meet record jump of 6-7.

Dawn Harper also competed in a final on Saturday, finishing seventh overall in the 100m hurdles in 13.02. Harper also finished seventh in the semi's with an identical time to advance to the final.

Sheena Johnson advanced to the final of the 400m hurdles, set for Sunday, running the No. 2 time of the day, 54.09. Johnson will run in the final on Sunday at 1:10 pm (PST).

In junior competition, freshman Lauren Jirges finished 14th overall in the 1500m, running 4:45.93.
