Courtney Thompson Nominated for ESPY Award

Bristol, Conn. - Husky senior setter Courtney Thompson is one of five 2006 ESPY Award nominees for Best Female College Athlete. Winners are determined by a popular vote and polls are open until July 8 at www.espys.tv.
As a junior, Thompson helped the Huskies to their first ever national championship in volleyball. The Kent, Wash., native led the nation in assists per game (14.89) and won the Honda Award for the top women's volleyball player at the collegiate level.
Thompson was a first-team All-American, first-team All-Pac-10, the 2005 CVU.com National Setter of the Year and a member of ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-American first team.
The other ESPY nominees for Best Female College Athlete are LSU women's basketball player Simone Augustus, USC hurdler Virginia Powell, Texas softball pitcher Cat Osterman and Portland soccer player Christine Sinclair.
