July 2, 2006

UCLA sophomore Jane Park finished in a tie for 10th place at the 61st U.S. Women's Open following final round play at the Newport Country Club in Newport, RI.

The 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur champion, Park played the final 36 holes on Sunday in nine over par to finish at 293 (+9), tied for 10th place with six other players. Over the final 36 holes, Park posted scores of 75-76 and tied for low amateur honors with Duke's Amanda Blumenherst. By virtue of finishing in the Top 20, Park will receive a full exemption to the 2007 U.S. Women's Open at Pumpkin Ridge in Oregon.

Annika Sorestam and Pat Hurst tied for first place after 72 holes at even par 284 and will battle Monday in an 18-hole playoff.
