Taylor Advances To Second Round of Match Play At Canadian Amateur

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario -- Fresh off his recent win at the Canadian Junior Boys Championship, Washington freshman-to-be Nick Taylor picked up a victory in the first round of match play at the Canadian Amateur Championship held in Mississauga, Ontario, Tuesday.

Taylor, the 23rd-seeded player, defeated 2005 Amateur runner-up Marc Bourgeois four and three to advance to tomorrow's second round. Taylor will next face fellow national junior team member Mitchell Fox Wednesday at 8:24 a.m.

Another future Husky, Darren Wallace, was competing in this week's Canadian Amateur but fell in first-round match play, three and two, to No. 8 seed Todd Halpen.

The Canadian Amateur continues through Friday.
